Putting something back into the community is an important part of life for the Air Cadet Organisation.
So the civilian committee, cadets and Staff from 51 (Orton) took to Serpentine Green shopping centre Peterborough over the weekend of the 3rd and 4th October to raise funds for two local organisations.
The “twisted” minds of the Squadron committee filled a Ford KA, donated for the weekend by TC Harrisons of Peterborough with an assortment of footballs, golf balls, tennis balls and table tennis balls.
Members of the public were invited to make a “guess for success” for £1, at the total number of balls in the KA to win a prize. Prizes included a TV, DVD player, signed Peterborough United FC “POSH” football, kiddies party at Power league, meal for two at a local restaurant, plus many many more.
The Squadron committee now looks forward to presenting Sue Ryder Care Home, and the Peterborough Hospital Special Care Baby unit with the money that was raised totalling £250 for each.
Special thanks go to Serpentine Green Shopping Centre Management, TC Harrison, Power League and Peterborough Rugby Club who helped make this the success it was. A special thanks must also go to the Civilian Committee, who without their tenacity and perseverance this event did not have got off the ground, and to the generous public of Peterborough, who without your donations and guess work we could not have raised the amount we did. Thank you all.If you are interested in joining the Squadron as an adult volunteer or cadet aged 13-18 then come along to any parade night, Tuesday or Wednesday 1900-2115, we are located at Orton Longueville School, Oundle Road Peterborough, or why not visit www.51sqnatc.co.uk
