Fantastic fundraising for Help for Heroes

Cadets and staff have finally been able to cash in their fundraising efforts of 2010, in aid of Help for Heroes. As the Corps begins to celebrate its 70th anniversary, the Squadron also starts to celebrate its 10th anniversary, and has started the year with great news for the Help for Heroes Charity.

Katie Wilson Help for Heroes representative received a final cheque for £2050. Bringing to a close the year with a grand total of £3550 raised by the cadets.

Katie thanked the efforts of the cadets, and remarked “it was a fantastic amount from people so young and determined in their efforts to help others.” Katie then gave a short talk to the cadets and staff about the work of the charity, and how the money raised is being spent.

Flt Lt Anglea Bone RAFVR(T) OC 51 (Orton) Squadron said, “This was a magnificent effort by the cadets throughout the year, but it cannot go without saying that the people of Peterborough have given so generously whenever the cadets have been in the City carrying out their various fundraising tasks. When we set out in January 2010 we never dreamed of making such a fantastic total.”

Help for Heroes was founded by Bryn and Emma Parry in October 2007 out of a desire to help the wounded Servicemen and women returning from Afghanistan and Iraq.
