First Class Success

Cadets of 51 (Orton) Squadron Air Training Corps, have passed their First Class assessments following a busy and hectic period of practical and theoretical training including camp craft, map reading, radio communications, team building and field craft to name a few.

Presentations had to be put on hold though due to their involvement with the annual Beds & Cambs Wing Easter Camp, this year held at Napier Barracks, Folkestone. During the camp the cadets experienced a flight in a Chinook Helicopter from 27 Squadron RAF, abseiling, rock climbing, watermanship skills, raft building and various leadership tasks.

On their return the cadets received their First Class badges from Wing Staff Officer Squadron Leader Tony Bartlett.

Officer Commanding 51 (Orton) Squadron, Pilot Officer Angela Bone said, “the cadets have achieved so much already in their relatively new cadet careers. They have shown what they are capable of under pressure and in demanding situations. The Air Cadet Organisation has so much to offer young people, this is only a glimpse of what can be achieved and what is on offer.”
