Cadets Fallen, GunShot!!!

Tree Climbing, Post Office raids, unicycle accidents, broken arms, gunshot wounds, punctured lungs, are all part of just one weekend for the Air Cadets of 51 Orton Squadron.

Having been invited back as casualties for the National and Inter Services First Aid Competition at Sandhurst, cadets where thrown into various scenarios which they needed to constantly and consistently re-enact for each competing team.  Each cadet was fully briefed on their personal injury and how it occurred, from a Post Office raid which resulted in a gunshot wound and a head injury, to cadets climbing a tree and branches breaking with all three falling to the floor, with injuries from open leg fractures to being unconscious.

Oh and what acting, which was supported by the  excellent make up skills of Cpt Rollie who through various technique’s made each casualty up to include injuries such as punctured lungs, shock, missing fingers, fractured arms and asthma attacks.

The realism, as you can see, was under no doubt, but each competing team approached the task skilfully, keeping their calm and putting into play the many hours of training they undertake to achieve such high level, and to have the opportunity to compete at the prestigious surroundings of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
