Guest Team Stands Out at Sandhurst!

Cadet Flight Sergeant Natalie Clampin of 51 Orton Squadron and Cadet Warrant Officer Jess Bradshaw of 104 City of Cambridge joined forces to compete as a Guest Young Adult team at the National Inter Services First Aid Competition last weekend. This is the largest First Aid competition of its kind for young people to participate in and cadets from uniformed forces including the St John Cadets meet to show off their talents on an annual basis.

Each member was tested through various scenarios as individuals and as a team to test their First Aid knowledge to their limits. Jointly Natalie and Jess dealt with casualties who were unconscious, had punctured lungs and amputated fingers to name just a few.

With the ladies being from different squadrons, practice for this event had been limited, and resulted with a 5 minute cramming session the night before. As you can imagine nerves were at a premium, but this clearly did not affect the amazing results that Natalie and Jess achieved at final parade with their team being announced as third in the Inter Services Competition, only being beaten by Dollar Academy CCF and Yorkshire North and West ACF. Unfortunately as only being a guest team they were not allowed to receive the medal and the official third place went to 2367 (Banchory) Sqn ATC (109).

Natalie said “I am so proud of what we achieved and it has only strengthened our determination to attend next year as a competing team.”
