What a First!!!

First public appearance for 51 Orton Squadron band, First joint parade with the Royal British Legion Langtoft, The Deepings and District, First Service of Dedication.

Cadets from 51 (Orton) Squadron experienced one of the greatest honours today, when they joined The Langtoft, Deepings and District service of Dedication of The Union Flag at St Michael All Angels Church Langtoft.

Not only were we invited to be escort for The Union Flag the Secretary Thomas Brand also requested that we supported their parade with our new band.

This was the bandís first outing, and what nerves were felt by all Cadets and Staff alike. The members of the band were well supported as they were joined by Flight Sergeant Smith. Only praise from the general public could be heard on how impressive the band sounded, and many windows were opened along the parade route to experience the very unique sound of the 51 Orton Squadron ATC Band.

The final honour bestowed on the squadron was the request from Thomas Brand that Warrant Officer Chris Bone was Parade Commander.

As a squadron, we would like to thank Thomas Brand and his RBL Branch for allowing us to be part of their very special day, and inviting us to their celebration after the service.

Many cadets heard stories from those who have fought and indeed from members of the ATC some 60 years ago.

It is at events such as these that the cadets learn what comradeship is all about and some very friendly stories, of life within the military forces. We look forward with working with Thomas and his team in the future.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the ATC, why not come down to the Squadron to look around, we meet on a Tuesday and Wednesday between 1900-2115 at the Squadron HQ. You will find us at Orton Longueville School near the main reception; alternatively call us on 07710 608711. The Squadron is recruiting now!!
