Squadron's Uniting

51 (Orton) Squadron has had its own drum core for over 2 years now, and has led many parades from Royal British Legion dedication service to being a regular at the Holme 1940’s weekend to name just a few. This successful band has developed under the command of Flight Sergeant Darren Smith who in recent months has started to incorporate Cymbals and Bell Lyre.

Flt Sgt Smith, knowing that the band was ready for its next stage contacted Wing Commander Makkie Retired from 115 (Peterborough) Squadron, who is a current member of the RAF Wyton Volunteer Band and Scott Kornek from the Peterborough Highland Pipe Band, and it was decided that forces would be joined and the creation of Peterborough ATC Band was well on its way.

The first practise of the new band was held at 51 (Orton) Squadron this weekend and what a success.
