Youth First Aid Team Do It Again

51 Orton Squadron Youth First Aid team achieves second place at the National Inter Services Competition at Sandhurst.  Flt Lt Bone said, “I couldn’t be prouder of these cadets.  They have worked so hard and achieved the ultimate reward.”

The Youth Inter Services competition is for cadets between the ages of 13 – 17 year old, and includes all the cadet forces from Army, to CCF to Sea Cadets right though to St Johns Ambulance.  Each member works hard to achieve the ultimate position of First, Second or Third place and this makes the competition intense and standards high.   Each individual recognises the importance of working as a team to achieve crucial marks, and this ethos is portrayed throughout the ATC organisation as a whole.

Each cadet is put through their paces with casualties being made up to a high standard, showing injuries from Burst Varicose Veins, to Critical head injuries, right up to limbs being amputated to  Arrow’s being implanted into legs.  Each cadet much treat these injuries within a limited time and to maintain calm and control.

The whole team said “They are so happy to be taking the cup back to the Squadron and such result could not have been achieved without the dedicated support of Lois Durrant and the Squadron Staff.”
