FCTC Pass Out.
Six Air Cadets from 51 (Orton) Squadron are celebrating passing their First Class examinations. Cadets Whitehead, Carpenter, Nightingale, Taffe, Subden and Reed had to study a range of subjects including the History of the Royal Air Force, Airmanship, Radio Communications, Drill and discipline all under the watchful eye of Warrant Officer Gary Wilcox.
Each cadet had the added honour of being presented with their award, by the newly appointed Squadron Leader Rob Bradshaw, which during his career with the Air Cadets was the Commanding Officer of 51 (Orton) Squadron.
The six cadets have worked hard to achieve this qualification, and it is only the start of many achievements they have ahead of them. Each cadet will have the opportunity to go flying, gliding, gain First Aid qualifications, do their Duke of Edinburgh awards, compete in sport competitions to name a few. It is not all about work though; each cadet forms friendships which will take them beyond the ATC and their years as a cadet.
Warrant Officer Gary Wilcox said “This is the first group of Cadets I have taken through their First Class training, so it has been a learning curve on all of us, yet, as with all ATC functions we have grown and achieved together”.
